OUR STORY

Maru Creations is a Māori owned business providing quality contemporary woven taonga (treasures) sharing the beauty of the Māori culture with the world.

The guiding light of the business is the late Anita Bassett, who is karani māmā (grandmother) to the founder of Maru Creations, ​Te Ataraiti Waretini. Her mother, Maria Waretini is the weaving teacher for the weavers of Maru Creations, she ensures mana and integrity in all pieces.

 

Maru Creations has a growing number of weavers who also include Te Ataraiti's brother, Hemi Waretini and best friend Hiwi Ashby.​
